Just hours after we reported that Russia effectively banned exports of fertilizers, moments ago Hungary - one of Europe's most grain rich nations - has circled the wagons and realizing which way the wind is blowing, just announced that it will banning all grain exports effective immediately, in a statement .

If the Rus screw up the food supply of China, India, Pakistan, etc. there will be hell to pay by the Rus. Once the radionuclides get in the food supply physically, the food becomes poison. $10 billion price on the problem makers head would probably fix it.

Shortage of crop fertilizer and decreased crop yields, will probably affect third world nations that rely on the US for sustenance first. We won't starve here, but you can be sure prices will go through the roof. I usually gauge what the water supply in Colorado is going to be like, based on the amount of snow on Pikes Peak. It looks sparse. That tells me the snowpack is falling short.
I have been considering buying whole wheat and grinding it to make my own bread. Bread at the local Safeway has been at $5 a loaf. If I have to raise my own chickens, I am going to be completely pissed off.
