R.I.P.D. is looking interesting. Kind of a MIB knockoff.

An oldie but goody (I just got a new sound system); movie still sounds great during this scene!

    +1. Movie was horrible.

Anyone see Enders Game yet? I loved that book. My bud saw it at an IMAX and liked it a lot. Pretty close to the book, but not 100% is what he said.

I liked Ender's Game (mostly) until the end.

The only complaint I had was a sloppy/lazy timeline (unnecessarily including information that made it seem like events that took months according to the dialog happened in 28 days). Overall it was pretty close to the book until the end. They completely left the tracks with the ending. Pissed me off to no end.

Of course I say that having loved that book since I was about 12. I don't know if anything but an HBO/Showtime mini-series could have told that story in a way that met my expectations.

Just finished watching The Gatekeepers. It's quite the thought-provoking film...

    Watched this over the weekend:

It's not "Pixar great" but it has a pretty conservative/libertarian/Randian story ... basically the kid is the grandson of a great Knight ... but Knights were outlawed by his lawyer father because he died in battle and now that the lawyers are in charge, society has devolved into a bureaucratic police state. Of course an evil Knight is putting together an army to crush the country since it's been weakened by legalism and the elimination of Knighthood.

Makes the case for individual excellence and against both gun control and the bureaucratic state ... and kids will enjoy it.

So I'll be humble enough to admit, I voluntarily watched Elysium...

WOW, what a terrible, shitty movie! The action and effects were good, but holy libtardation to the max on the story line. Bottom line: the whole plot of the film is "Rich people are evil." That's pretty much it. Other than that, I kinda liked District 9 somewhat (mostly because I didn't really get the political undertones on that one), but this Bloomkampf (misspelled intentionally) film was que horrible.

Was the Elysium plot better or worse that In Time with Justin Timberlake?

I use whether or not someone liked District 9 as a litmus test for my friendship.

As I am more of a horror/action buff:

The Conjuring is probably one of the better "spooky" flicks as of late; not much gore, but well directed/edited.

Dark Skies was watchable also, but not as good IMO.
