My boss was looking to get a few "more" N95 masks last Monday and found near every source online sold out. He stopped by one of the Lowes in town and got 1 one 5 remaining 10-pack boxes. While he was checking out the package, an Asian woman shoved him aside and took the remaining 4 boxes. Word is that all Lowes and Home Depot's in Colo Spr are sold out now.
Interested in hearing his response as well. If one of the transmission vehicles for this virus is by inhaling air exhaled by an infected person I can't see how a mask wouldn't block you from that vector; at least in casual/short encounters.
ETA: I'd confess up front that this is an area I have little knowledge about, but what little I know suggests the N95 or greater would offer a fair amount of protection.
