I was subjected to a round of 'retail therapy' that other day and after staring at thousands of racks of clothes that will never be sold, I was longing for the days when we could split up for 30 minutes- she looks at clothes and I look at tools.

I just find the book section and tell her to meet me there before heading to the register.

Colorado Springs has an outdoor Flea Market that has hundreds of vendors, many with tons of tools.

My son gets a booth where he does/sells his spray paint art. Mrs. Ginsue & I help him set up his booth. Last weekend, one of my sons leads from work came by. He commented on all of the tools and indicated that the Flea Market is where he buys his tools. He also added that he's aware most (if not all) of the tools for sale are likely stolen, so there's that.

Murdochs may not have many tools but I think it could satisfy both his and her needs.

I think up to half inch hole drillers around these parts, apparently they sell bits too if you ask them to grab some from the back.

That used tool place downtown is a great place to visit just to look around, really good staff and decent prices.

I loved walking into a Sears store back in the day and inhaling the overpowering, and glorious, smell of tires. Every store smelled the same. It was a great time to be alive. I still have a big Craftsman tool set I bought in the early 80s...83 maybe, and I think I have every screwdriver and socket. I had to replace the 3/8" drive back in the late 2000s when the store at Southwest Plaza was still there. There's just nothing like a Sears store from the 80s for guys who like tools.

I've always hated going shopping. Still do. But if I had a chance to stop in at Sears that was enough to get me to tag along with the wife.

Harbor Freight kinda fills that niche but it's just not the same. Buying mostly made in China tools just isn't the same as genuine made in America Craftsman tools.
