2) If it weren't for the US, the French would be speaking German right now. And if it weren't for the French, we'd be speaking Cherokee right now.

The "natives" (plenty of archeological evidence they were just a new chapter in waves of migration, but I digress) were so given to internecine rivalry that it's unlikely they would have won in the long run. The people and civilizations encountered by the Spanish were nowhere to be found 200 years later for the most part. From the Anasazi to the Timucua (Florida), they died out -- a lot of times due to the genocide perpetrated by other tribes.

The site blocks you from posting more frequently than every 30 seconds, which is sometimes annoying, but not that much. Imagine if it prevented you from posting ever time you ended a sentence in a preposition?! I'd never get a word in.

Last I heard on this snow deal, is 2-5 for Denver and high winds all starting around 5:00 pm today. I'd love to find out they blew the forecast and we only get....1 maybe.
But if it's 5, then get up at 3:00 am and go plow...grrrrrr.

5" would be nice. I'm sure we need the snow. My chickens aren't huge fans of snow, but my lawn is.

I heard something about all kinds of words or usage that is incorrect and the idea was that once something becomes common usage, it now counts as correct.
