I've tried bolt closed and open (empty mag in every case) and it just seems like it cannot reach far enough into the magwell to let the crossbar snap in to place. Sometimes some back and forth wiggling will help, or a rough upward slap on the base of the mag does it. But they feel really stiff in there and require more wiggling to remove them if they successfully locked in.

HK Parts.net is showing they have German, US, and KCI metal mags in stock. I've bought from them and haven't had any problems. The MP5 is listed in the rifle section.

My short ETS mags act the way yours are doing. I have some longer ones that latch up fine but I haven't had a chance to shoot them yet.

    Have fun.

Thanks for reminding me about HKParts. I was looking at some KCI mags on Atlantic Firearms, but they are a fair bit cheaper on HKParts. Bought 2 of them for testing.

I know Atlantic Firearms has them in stock pretty often. I found this one at a local range, but I'm pretty far outside of the metro area.

Just as I was about to buy new, snagged this off FB. Exact model I was looking for and less than half of a new one!

I waited and waited on many selling platform for a good uses scope, and I gave up.

I decide to just order this:
    Burris XTR II 8-40x50
F Class MOA Illuminated FFP Reticle - 34mm Scope Tube

Hope I made a good decision.
